Introduction

This professional diploma in clinical nutrition is designed to meet the needs of healthcare professionals who wish to gain the knowledge and skills about management of nutrition problems in different clinical cases especially in obesity management. The diploma is accredited by National Quality Institute in Egypt Over all objectives:

Upon completion of these 4 Courses, candidates will be able to:

  1. Know the basic nutrition science.
  2. Know the nutrition needs for infants, children, adolescents, pregnant & lactating mothers, adult females, adult males & geriatrics.
  3. Diagnose & management of malnutrition (under nutrition & over nutrition)
  4. Know causes & patho-physiology of obesity.
  5. Diagnose & management cases of obesity.
  6. Know how to manage nutrition problem in clinical cases (DM, Hypertension, CVD, Endocrinal Disorders, bone diseases, hepatic disorders, renal diseases, etc.)

Module 1

Basic Nutrition

At the end of this module, candidate will know information about basic foods & nutrients:

  1. Dietary energy
  2. Dietary protein and amino acids
  3. Dietary fat and fatty acids
  4. Dietary carbohydrates
  5. Vitamins
  6. Minerals & trace minerals.

Module 2

Nutrition needs of population subgroups

At the end of this module candidate will be able to identify the nutrition need of the Following population subgroups:

  1. Pregnant & lactating women
  2. Preterm infants
  3. Infants (0-1 year)
  4. Pre-school children
  5. School- aged children
  6. Adolescents
  7. Adults (19-64 years).

Module 3

Dietetic Management of disease

At the end of this module, Candidate will be able to know the patho-physiology, nutrition needs and dietary management for the following diseases:

  1. Diabetes mellitus.
  2. Hepatic disorders.
  3. Cardiovascular diseases
  4. Bone disorders
  5. Renal disorders
  6. Dyslipidaemia
  7. Hypertension
  8. GIT disorders
  9. Thyroid disorders
  10. under nutrition.

Module 4

Management of obesity

At the end of this Course, candidate will be able to mange different cause of obesity:

  1. Causes of Obesity
  2. Childhood obesity
  3. Patho- physiology of obesity
  4. Dietary management of obesity
  5. Drug management of obesity
  6. Mesotherapy & liposuction.

Credit hours: 38 hours Contact hours: 144 hours

Study time: 9 AM – 4 PM

Accreditation: Nasser institute Hospital - Ministry of Health and Population

Diploma Graduation Exam: Exam, 90 marks for passing

On- Going assessment: active participation, Assignments, mini-project
